Lestat : Who is Mateusz Farenholc ?
Mateusz : I'm 23, I was born in a small town called Opole in Poland. When I was a teenager, I moved to Arkansas to go to high school out there. After graduating, I moved back to Poland and went to college in Warsaw, majoring in American culture. At the same time, I started modeling and shortly afterwards I got my first internship at the fashion department of Polish mag Glamour. I've been working in fashion, either as a model or a fashion editor, ever since. I started modeling after I sent some of my pictures to Polish agencies when I was 17. It was supposed to be a joke, but the agencies turned out to be interested. I've just moved to Lisbon, Portugal, but I don't have any plans at the moment. I'll see what happens next.
Lestat : How do you feel about modeling ? What do you like most in it ?
Mateusz : I used to be very excited about modeling when I was younger. Now it's just a job, I guess I've gotten used to it. I like to get involved and be more creative, therefore I enjoy being a fashion editor as well. What I like most about modeling is having lots of opportunities to meet cool people. Traveling is a plus as well, obviously.
Lestat : What’s a working day like ? What else do you do the other days ?
Mateusz : When I work as a stylist, the job is mostly about finding clothes, so right before a photoshoot I end up drowning in huge amounts of clothes . Then I have to send them back and start preparing for another one. When I model, it's much less preparations, I just go there, do my best and then I'm done. Sometimes, when a shoot is inspired by a certain character, or a movie, I try to get some background knowledge so that I know what the thing is about.
Lestat : Who / what inspires you most in life in general ?
Mateusz : I don't have a role model. I'm inspired by music, movies and places. "Into the wild" and "Stealing beauty" are some of the movies that inspire me. "Into the wild" actually made me decide to move to Portugal ! I like the feeling of freedom, meaning that I can pack my suitcase and go anywhere, anytime. Beautiful places inspire me as well (water, empty spaces). Smoking a cigarette in the middle of nowhere in Texas was an amazing experience !
Lestat : How was your latest assignment ?
Mateusz : It was a campaign for a Polish brand called Cropp. It was alot of fun, because the crew consisted of very good friends. We went to Berlin for a couple of days to shoot the campaign. The funny part was that all the models wore masks, so you can't even tell I'm in the pictures. But there wasn't a lot of work, so we had plenty of time to hang out and enjoy Berlin !
Lestat : Is being a redhead an advantage or a downside ?
Mateusz : On one hand, it's a cool thing, as that makes it very easy for me to stand out. However, when a casting director looks for twenty guys and every one of them is supposed to blend in, I don't get the job. My look is too specific at times (I'm super-tall as well, so I don't get to do a lot of shows anyway).
Lestat : What would be the perfect next assignment like ?
Mateusz : I'd like to try my acting skills. I mean, I'd like to see if I have any ! A small part in a feature movie would be awesome, but I wouldn't mind being cast in a short fashion film. I'd like to see if I can control my facial expression ! I tend to laugh a lot and make funny faces all the time...
Lestat : Sounds cool ! So what are your projects ?
Mateusz : For now I'm staying in Lisbon. I was here for vacation two months ago and I totally fell in love with the city, so I decided to move in here for some time (to avoid the Polish weather during autumn and winter). I'd like to find a regular job, though I know it might be quite difficult because I don't speak any Portuguese. So I guess I'll try to pick up some language and see what's next. I'm with a Portuguese agency called Just Models, so maybe I'll get to have some modeling here. It seems like I'm the only redhead in town ! But if I turn out to be an unemployed loner, I'll think about moving somewhere else !
Lestat : Is love important to you ?
Mateusz : Oh yes, it is super important. Though it's really difficult to find a decent love interest ! I've never had a hook-up in my entire life. I can't imagine how one can be turned on by sleeping with someone they have no feelings for. Ah well, call me a romantic.
Lestat : What do you wear to bed ?
Mateusz : Most often it's only underwear ! But when I want to be proper, I put on my favorite pyjamas featuring a picture of Debbie Harry.
Lestat : Do you spend much time on the Internet ?
Mateusz : It depends. When I'm busy, I don't go on-line and I don't miss it. So I'm not addicted yet ! But when I have nothing to do, I spend hours and hours on the Internet.

Mateusz : I didn't do any grocery shopping yesterday, and I was starving when I got up, so I had to have some chocolate chip cookies and a glass of milk before running to a store.
