This is the début collection of young Madrid-based designer Alberto Puras, 25, who, after graduating in fashion design moved to New York City to work with Russian designer Lika Volkova then got back home to start his own eponymous label. One of the most talked-about names, he was the good surprise of El Ego de Cibeles during the Madrid Fashion Week. Entitled "Collage", this collection displayed "a blend of different languages", as Alberto Puras put it, "which you wish you could go deeper into because it has alot more to tell". The result was an offering that mixed classic sartorialism with a contemporary spirit. It had a touch of everything that wasn't typical menswear attire including leather shorts, crinkled metallic suits, burnt orange shirt and short sets, sheer and draping fabrics, see-through silks. Mismatched patterns including thick yellow stripes on a top mixed with thin pinstriped shorts were also worth noting in this über-chic collection, which presented a range of fabrics and shapes in a sober palette of black, grays to yellow. Alberto Puras completed these androgynous silhouettes with black or white sandals, small hats, plus colorful necklaces and rope belts. It was logical his sophomore collection made a foray into womenswear some weeks ago. Make no bones about it, Morphosis will keep an eye on this new talent.
