If there’s one thing we can learn from Parachute Youth’s origins is that even great things can come out of boring house parties. Sydneysider Mathew Gill aka Matt KVon and Adelaidean John Courtidis aka Jonny Castro met at such a shindig, got talking and within half an hour, pissed off home to tinker on some tunes. The results proved far more inspiring than the party that brought them together, with the pair penning the blueprint for their début single "Can’t get better than this". After a few more months simmering in the studio, Matt (a former airforce avionics technician -hence the band’s name) and Jonny (a producer/muso in a band called Def Starr) threw caution to the wind and moved to Paris, where the house parties were obviously even more exciting. Now based in Melbourne and signed to an Aussie label, the duo have floored us with their hypnotic final cut of their first hit and its dazzling music video by Julien Paolini (in the expandable), which captured an annual motorcycle race in the West African country of Burkina Faso. "Count to ten" is the title of their newest single. Take a look at their fantastic video directed by Alexander Christenson.
